Dr. Blankson hosts the Increasing Statistical Preparation in Research Education for Underrepresented Undergraduates (INSPIRE U2) program. Eight students spent the summer at Spelman College learning R and statistics, and completing an independent project using BIG Data.

Dr. Blankson received Outstanding Atlanta Faculty Impact Award
Dr. Blankson received the Women of Color Initiative Outstanding Atlanta Faculty Impact Award from the Women of Color Initiative (WOCI) Atlanta City-Wide Collaborative in Higher Education. This award recognized contributions towards advancing women of color in higher education, industry, research, or the community. The award was presented during the Women of Color City-wide Awards Celebration on October 2, 2022. WOCI Atlanta Collaborative in Higher Education is a city-wide strategic partnership between the Center for Women at Emory, Office of Minority Educational Development (OMED) at Georgia Tech, Spelman College Women Research and Resource Center, STEM Atlanta Women, Inc, and Women’s Resource Center at Georgia Tech.

Dr. Blankson received the Undergraduate Distinguished Alumni Award from the Loyola University Maryland Psychology Department. This award recognized one alum from the undergraduate degree program "who, in their careers after Loyola, has used their psychology education and training to make significant contributions to their community or profession in a way that is consistent with Loyola’s Jesuit mission and the department’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice". The award was presented during the department's 50th Anniversary dinner on October 1, 2022.

Dr. Blankson was interviewed for the September issue of Eye on Psi Chi. In the interview, Dr. Blankson discussed problems with the concept of IQ and shared a new theory (Specific Processes of Intelligence and Relationships in Academic Learning) to guide research on cognition and achievement.

Dr. Blankson awarded first NIH R01 in history of Spelman College.
Dr. Blankson was awarded an R01 grant from the National Institutes of Health to investigate the impact of COVID on the educational attainment of African American children (NIH R01MD016085). This is the first R01 in the history of Spelman College.

Dr. Blankson was a 2022 recipient of the Spencer Mentor Award from the Spencer Foundation. This award will provide a $15,000 grant that Dr. Blankson will use to support students who engage in education research.

Dr. Blankson awarded NSF Post Doctoral Fellow and Research Assistant Supplements.
Dr. Blankson was awarded supplemental funds to support one Post Doctoral Fellow and five undergraduate research assistants on a longitudinal study focused on pathways to academic success in African American children. The supplemental funds will support the completion of data collection, analyses, publications, and presentations for the study.

Dr. Blankson presents on "Cognition and achievement: Isn’t it about time we cancelled IQ?" In the presentation, Dr. Blankson proposes the Specific Processes of Intelligence and Relationships in Academic Learning (SPIRAL) theory. Intelligence, within certain contexts (whether it's environmental, such as in the context of good classroom quality, or biological, such as the joint contribution of different aspects of intelligence) leads to learning. This, in turn, improves intelligence, which then contributes to academic achievement. And so on and so forth.,
